Xiaomi Redmi 9 with 5000mAh battery and MIUI 12 operating system launched in India: Price, specs and more

Consumer technology brand Xiaomi has launched a budget smartphone — called Redmi 9 — in India. The handset is part of their popular Redmi series. The key highlight of the smartphone is its 5000mAh battery and that it runs on the latest custom UI MIUI 13 from the company.
Redmi 9 price and availability
The smartphone has been launched in two storage variants. The base variant offers 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and costs Rs 8,999. The second variant offers 4GB+128GB storage and costs Rs 9,999. The Redmi 9 has been launched in three colour options — Carbon Black, Sky Blue, and Sporty Orange.
The handset will be available through flash sales model for now and the first sale is set to take place on August 31 at 12 pm. The company will soon make it available through Mi Home stores and offline retailers in the country.
Redmi 9 specs
Running on MIUI 12-based on Android 10 out of the box, the Redmi 9 smartphone offers a display of 6.35-inch HD+ screen of 720×1,600p resolution with a water drop notch and 20:9 aspect ratio.
The Redmi 9 smartphone comes powered by 2.3Ghz octa-core MediaTek Helio G35 processor. On the storage front, the device offers 4GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage. For those who want more, they can install a microSD card of up to 512GB.
For imaging duties, the Redmi 9 has a dual-camera setup on the back. The primary camera is a 13MP sensor and the secondary sensor is a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, users get a 5MP sensor.
Backed by a 5000mAh battery, the Redmi 9 measures 164.9 x 77.07 x 9.0mm and weighs 196 grams. It offers fingerprint lock support, AI face unlock for security. Connectivity options include microUSB port, 3.5mm headphone jack and Bluetooth 5.0.
